A poncho that can be worn as a scarf, made of the devoré velvet. The fabric is sheer silk chiffon dyed black, contrast with a shimmering velvet pattern I call Pebbles-in-an-Ocean-Stream. I hand-painted the pattern with dyes using brushes in a watercolor style.
• One size fits most:
Once the fabric is made, it is sewn together so it slips over your head to be worn as a poncho, shawl or scarf.
It can be paired with jeans or with a special dress.
This garment was pre-washed as part of the dying and hand-painting process. A cold, gentle cycle followed by a hot drying cycle will make it softer.
• Silk Velvet:
Silk chiffon backing with rayon velvet pile.
All natural materials make it luxuriously soft.
